Beyond the Cover, is where beeswax meets mica in an altered book assemblage encaustic intensive playshop. 4 full days of creative play...
Using the luminous elements of beeswax, the organic shimmery properties of mica and the vintage layers of a book, a new structure is birthed in a unique personal assemblage.
Together, Patrice Baker (Guest Artist) and Supria Karmakar will be altering books with you to create a unique piece of personal art. You will build spaces in your book to fill with your treasures and trinkets. You will also use transparent mica to create a window in the front cover as well as a page within the book.
