Beyond the Cover - Beeswax meets Mica: April 2016

Using the luminous elements of beeswax, the organic shimmery properties of mica and the vintage layers of a book, a new structure is birthed in a unique personal assemblage.

Together, Patrice Baker (Guest Artist) and Supria Karmakar will be altering books with you to create a unique piece of personal art. You will build spaces in your book to fill with your treasures and trinkets. You will also use transparent mica to create a window in the front cover as well as a page within the book. You will be able to layer ephemera between the sheets of mica for a fascinating effect. Pulling the whole book together with the luscious quality of encaustic.

New dates are set for Beyond the Cover Altered Books with Encaustic and Mica has been set.

Thursday June 9th starting at 2 pm
to Sunday June 12th 5pm.

Pat is a collector. She is a collector of techniques, ideas, metals, ephemera, found objects, paper, broken bits of things, gems and containers. Although some of her work has been mixed media collage, she has spent over 15 years making one of a kind jewellery. Her new studio space has been designed to share what she has collected and to provide a space for others to engage in art.

Together, Pat and Supria are thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborative in this exciting summer encaustic book playshop where Supria’s passion and experience for all things encaustic and books comes together with Pat’s flare for all things mica and books.
