Using the luminous elements of beeswax, the organic shimmery properties of mica and the vintage layers of a book, a new structure is birthed in a unique personal assemblage.

Together, Patrice Baker (Guest Artist) and Supria Karmakar will be altering books with you to create a unique piece of personal art. You will build spaces in your book to fill with your treasures and trinkets. You will also use transparent mica to create a window in the front cover as well as a page within the book. You will be able to layer ephemera between the sheets of mica for a fascinating effect. Pulling the whole book together with the luscious quality of encaustic.

A few more weeks to register for the 2015 Beyond the Cover Play Shop

We are so excited about hosting the 2015 Beyond the Cover - Encaustic meets Mica Altered Book Play Shop…starts August 6th 2pm for three and half days.    There are a few spots left, we have some exciting things to teach.

 I am also excited about sharing some exciting news about a new upcoming book show to start thinking about creating work for…new info. to follow soon.
